A proper fitting is part measurement, part conversation. We look at your features and proportions, how the frame sits on your nose and behind your ears, and whether its width suits your face. Then we ask how you live — desk days, weekends outdoors, work that is hard on eyewear — because that shapes which materials and lenses make sense.

Just as important, we align the optical center of each lens with your pupil; even small errors reduce how well a prescription works. Once you have chosen, we adjust the fit before you leave and are here whenever it needs a touch-up.

A useful rule of thumb is contrast: a frame that gently opposes the lines of your face tends to flatter it. Rounder faces often look sharpest in angular frames; strong, square jawlines are balanced by rounder or oval shapes; longer faces gain proportion from a frame with more depth. Online frames arrive in a box, sized to a photo. Ours are measured to your face and your prescription by people who can adjust them on the spot. Pupillary distance, optical centers and progressive fitting heights are taken in person, and the frame is chosen with your lens thickness in mind — the detail that decides whether a strong prescription looks slim or heavy.

You also try frames on in real light, with someone honest beside you. Your prescription is on file with the team that examined your eyes, and if anything feels off once you start wearing them, you simply come back in.

Both. Every frame in the boutique can be fitted with your prescription, and we carry prescription and non-prescription sunglasses along with accessories to complete your purchase. Photochromic lenses such as Transitions turn a favorite frame into sunglasses outdoors, and many patients keep a second pair for driving or the office.

We also fit specialty eyewear for people whose work or hobbies ask more of their glasses: sports glasses, safety eyewear, computer glasses, color-blind glasses and protective eyewear.
