Why do I need a contact lens exam?
Contact lenses sit directly on the surface of your eye, so a glasses prescription alone isn't enough. A contact lens exam evaluates your corneal health and tear film, measures the shape and size of your eyes — including corneal topography, a detailed map of the cornea's curvature — and determines your precise lens prescription. We also talk through your lifestyle: sports and outdoor time, long hours on screens, or an interest in colored lenses all point toward different options.
New wearers learn how to insert, remove and care for their lenses before leaving the office.
What happens at the fitting and follow-up?
You'll try lenses in the office so we can check the fit, movement and vision, then wear them for a trial period. Follow-up fittings let us see how the lenses perform on your eyes over real days and make adjustments until comfort and clarity are right. We also reinforce proper cleaning and storage, because good habits are what prevent infections and complications.
What types of contact lenses do you offer?
We fit the full range of soft and specialty lenses:
- Daily disposables: worn once and thrown away, with no cleaning or storage — ideal for busy schedules and anyone who wants the freshest lens every day
- Bi-weekly and monthly lenses: replaced every two weeks or month; a cost-effective choice that requires regular cleaning and proper storage
- Bifocal and multifocal lenses: correct presbyopia so you can see near, intermediate and far without switching to reading glasses
- Toric lenses for astigmatism
- Colored contact lenses: FDA-approved and available in prescription and non-prescription forms — a safer alternative to unfitted lenses from beauty supply stores
- Myopia-control lenses for children, including MiSight 1 day and orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
Can I wear contacts if I've been told I'm hard to fit?
Usually, yes. Many people are told they can't wear contacts because of an eye condition or an irregularly shaped cornea. Specialty lenses — toric, scleral and rigid gas permeable (RGP) designs — provide clear, comfortable vision for patients with:
- Astigmatism
- Keratoconus
- Pellucid marginal degeneration
- Dry eyes
- Presbyopia (reduced near vision, common after 40)
- Giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC)
- Corneal scarring
- Prior LASIK or other refractive surgery

- Yes. A contact lens exam adds measurements of your cornea and tear film, a trial fitting to check how lenses sit and move on your eye, and follow-up visits to fine-tune the fit. Both offices provide the full contact lens exam.
- Can I wear contacts if I have astigmatism?
- Yes. Toric soft lenses correct astigmatism, and for higher or irregular astigmatism we fit rigid gas permeable or scleral lenses.
- Do you fit contact lenses for keratoconus?
- Yes. Scleral and rigid gas permeable lenses vault over or reshape the irregular cornea in keratoconus and pellucid marginal degeneration, restoring clear, comfortable vision when soft lenses can't.
- Can I get multifocal contacts instead of reading glasses?
- Yes. Bifocal and multifocal contact lenses correct presbyopia so you can see near, intermediate and distance without switching glasses. We fit multifocal designs from ACUVUE, DAILIES, AIR OPTIX, Bausch + Lomb and Biofinity, among others.
- Can children wear contact lenses?
- Yes. We fit daily disposable and myopia-control lenses such as MiSight 1 day for children who are ready to handle lenses, and overnight Ortho-K lenses for those who prefer to be glasses-free during the day.
