Prada Eyewear

Milanese restraint, sharpened to a point. Domiano Eye Care carries Prada optical frames and sunglasses in Old Forge and Clarks Summit — clean, architectural pieces for people who prefer their luxury understated.

What defines Prada eyewear?

Prada was founded in Milan in 1913, and under Miuccia Prada the house became shorthand for a certain kind of intelligence: minimal, precise, a little severe, never obvious. The eyewear follows suit. Fronts are cut with clean geometry and deliberate proportions — sometimes a hair wider or squarer than you expect — in polished black, tortoise and muted, almost industrial tones. Metalwork is fine and exact. The one flourish is the small enamel triangle at the temple, and it's usually the only logo you'll find.

Prada also runs a second, sportier line, Linea Rossa — the red line — which brings the same design discipline to lighter, more technical frames intended for movement: wrapped sun styles, rubberized details, lean optical shapes that sit well under a helmet or a hat.

Which Prada line is right for me?

Think of the main line as the frame you wear to work, to dinner and everywhere in between; think of Linea Rossa as the frame for driving, the golf course or a long day outdoors. It's not unusual to want one of each.

  • Prada main line — architectural acetates and refined metals; best for daily wear where the frame is part of how you dress
  • Prada Linea Rossa — lightweight, sport-inflected frames and wrapped sunglasses; best for active use and driving
  • Not sure? Try both. Faces read very differently in a squared Prada acetate than in a slim Linea Rossa metal

Can I get prescription lenses in Prada frames?

Yes. Prada optical frames are made up with your prescription in single vision, progressive or occupational designs, and many Prada and Linea Rossa sunglasses accept prescription sun lenses, polarized if you like. Wrapped Linea Rossa styles have curvature limits with stronger prescriptions, which our opticians check before you order. Bring a current prescription, or schedule an exam with Dr. Michele L. Domiano, O.D., at either office and we'll handle the rest.

Why does fit matter more with a minimalist frame?

A clean design shows every flaw in fit — a temple that flares, a bridge that sits high, a front that tilts. Our frame specialists in Old Forge and Clarks Summit measure and adjust each Prada frame so it sits level, light and centered, then match it with lenses that respect the design: thin high-index materials, anti-reflective coatings, tints that suit the frame's color. Adjustments after you've worn the frame are always welcome.

Frequently asked questions

Does Domiano Eye Care carry Prada eyeglasses?
Yes. We carry Prada optical frames and sunglasses, including pieces from the Linea Rossa line, at both our Old Forge and Clarks Summit boutiques. Selection changes with each collection, so call ahead if you have a specific style in mind.
What is Prada Linea Rossa?
Linea Rossa is Prada's sport-oriented line, recognizable by its red stripe. The frames are lighter and more technical than the main collection — wrapped sunglasses and lean optical shapes built for driving, golf and active days. Call either office to check what's currently in stock.
Can I get prescription Prada sunglasses?
Many Prada sunglasses can be fitted with prescription sun lenses, polarized or not. The more curved the frame — particularly some Linea Rossa styles — the narrower the range of prescriptions it can take, so our opticians confirm before you order.
Does Prada make eyeglasses for men?
Yes. Prada's men's optical and sun frames tend toward squared, architectural shapes in black, tortoise and dark metals, plus the sportier Linea Rossa pieces. Both boutiques carry men's styles; call to check the current selection.
